MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK by WILLIAM PYBUS OF CAISTOR

William Pybus was born in 1776 and died 1861. He was in business as a clock maker in Caistor in Lincolnshire from 1810 to 1861.

This example is an original mahogany 8 day fully restored long case clock by William Pybus. The date on the movement pillars are from 1800 to 1835 dating this clock within this time period. The movement has been fully restored complete with second hand and date aperture again both fully working. The dial has been fully restored and is in outstanding condition. The dial is a 13inch wide arch dial with a cottage theme to the top complete with original hands and winding key. The complete case is an outstanding flamed mahogany colour and is very nice. The case hood is complete with original glass to the door and has stringing inlay within the mahogany itself complete with side pillars. Again the hood is in outstanding condition. The case itself is in very good condition and the only fault is a split in the mahogany on the base but this is very minor and you can hardly notice it. The trunk door has a very nice curved top and a very nice oval stringing within the flamed mahogany. It is complete with a fully working lock and key again this case has stringing and side pillars to match the hood. The clock comes complete with original weights and pendulum. The height is 84 inches, width is 19 inches, depth is 9 inches. The case and clock are in outstanding condition.
